January 22, 2010

Well, Kyle is quickly approaching nine months in the mission field. Life in Aberdeen, South Dakota during the winter has had its share of challenges! The temperatures for most of January have hovered at zero and often below zero for the daily high. Many days when we check the weather, it has been 20 to 30 below zero, not counting the wind chill. The Elder's were snowed in on Christmas Eve with 20 inches of snow and 45 mph winds. The cold kept all of the missionaries inside a few days, and apartment buildings have been a hot commodity for tracting. We got to talk to Kyle on Christmas day, and enjoyed every second of it! The work is moving forward and Kyle has made some great contacts recently. He is enjoying his assignment as District Leader, and will be losing his current companion next week, as it is time for him to go home. Thanks to all that write to Kyle and also he says thanks for the Christmas packages. Since its almost spring now, it sounds good to say that he will be home next spring!!! That is the optimistic approach of parents!
